For over four decades, Pepler’s has been making delicious condiments by hand using locally grown ingredients. We were approached by Paul and Jane to create an enduring brand that better communicates Pepler’s ambition to become synonymous across New Zealand with innovative and mouth-watering condiments. Starting like we always do, with deep insights into who Pepler’s are and who they want to be, we settled on the brand concept you can see below. The key brand indicators of hand-crafted, premium and distinctive have guided our design process across a myriad of brand touchpoints.
The challenge in the supermarket arena is unmistakable - it’s fiercely competitive, and standing out is crucial. Our goal was to ensure that Pepler’s packaging didn't just exist on shelves but captivated attention. The design concept we developed centres around a distinctive wordmark, a testament to Pepler’s unique identity. We employed a refined approach to type and colour, creating an identity that speaks of flavour, a focus on craftsmanship, and an emphasis on quality materials. The type styles, formatting, and layout grids draw inspiration from vintage cookbooks, echoing a time when care and attention to detail were paramount in culinary creations. This approach not only aligns with Pepler’s brand ethos of hand-crafted excellence but also resonates with consumers who value quality and authenticity. Our collaboration with Pepler’s is about understanding the roots of a brand and nurturing it to grow and thrive in today’s market. At Daymark, we take pride in our ability to not just design but to breathe life into a brand, ensuring that every element - from packaging to brand narrative - aligns perfectly with the brand’s core values and aspirations.
"The new brand has been instrumental in Pepler's growth. Since the rebrand, Pepler's has enjoyed a surge in positive customer feedback, with the fresh, modern design improving product visibility on shelves. This visibility has translated into increased sales and a surge in wholesale inquiries, affirming the brand's enhanced market position and appeal."
